Tsunayoshi "Tsuna" Sawada (沢田綱吉/ツナ, Sawada Tsunayoshi/Tsuna?)
Tsuna is a junior-high student and the Vongola Family's mob-boss-in-training. The reason Tsuna was recruited is because he is the great-great-great grandson of the first Vongola boss, who had moved to Japan a long time ago. Also, the other candidates, for the position of the head of the Vongola Family, died. Before Reborn finds Tsuna, Tsuna is known as "No Good Tsuna" (ダメツナ, Dame Tsuna) for his poor grades, bad luck, and lack of athleticism. When Reborn shoots him with the Dying Will Bullet, he is revived as a powerful mostly-naked warrior with a flame on his forehead.

Hayato Gokudera (獄寺 隼人, Gokudera Hayato?)
A transfer student that was placed in Tsuna's class. Hayato, who had previously studied in Italy, is a dynamite expert nicknamed "Smokin' Bomb Hayato" (スモーキン・ボム 隼人, Sumōkin Bomu Hayato). He keeps various explosives hidden on his person and uses those explosives liberally by lighting them with a cigarette (or several) held in his mouth. At one point, when he removed his jacket to do 'dynamite maintenance', he was revealed to be carrying several dozen dynamites, much to everyone's surprise.

Takeshi Yamamoto (山本 武, Yamamoto Takeshi)
Takeshi is Tsuna's classmate and the popular baseball star of the school. He becomes friends with Tsuna, and Reborn tries to recruit him into the Vongola Famiglia. He hardly takes anything seriously, and is often "tricked" by Reborn because he thinks that, "It's a game". Reborn occasionally trains him by putting him in dangerous situations, but Takeshi still believes it to be just a game or simple baseball training. His reflexes are unreasonably good, as is his level of obliviousness; he thinks the various weapons and dangerous objects he sees Reborn and others use on a regular basis are just really advanced kid's toys.

Ryohei Sasagawa (笹川 了平, Sasagawa Ryōhei)
Kyoko's older brother who is obsessed with boxing; he even barged into a zoo, expecting to fight some animals. He is the third to take the Deathperation Shot, but it has no effect on him since he always lives "to the limit," and is therefore in Dying Will Mode constantly. He wants to recruit Tsuna to the boxing club and in response, Reborn wants to recruit him into the family. Every time he sees Tsuna and his family doing something strange, he gets fired up and always wants to be a part of it.

Kyoya Hibari (雲雀 恭弥, Hibari Kyōya)
Kyoya is the leader of the Discipline Committee, or Prefects, who all happen to be a group of delinquents loyal to Kyoya. Even so, he is a violent delinquent who uses his status to harass other students. He prefers to be alone and cares little for his subordinates. If he is amongst a crowd, he tends to play violent "games" with rules like "I'll bite anyone to death who wakes me up when I'm sleeping," and as mentioned, the loser often has to pay the price with his life.

Chrome Dokuro
(クローム 髑髏, Kurōmu Dokuro)
A 13-year-old girl born in Japan on December 5, and wears a Kokuyo school uniform.
From what her parents talked about in a flashback, she was a girl known as Nagi and lived a non-social life. After rescuing a cat, she was badly injured in a car accident which lead to the loss of her right eye and some of her organs. The only way to save her life would be to have someone with the same blood type to transfer their organs to her. She did not care whether she lived or not and her parents refused the offer anyway. However, Mukuro Rokudo allowed her to live by creating illusionary organs. Chrome has been shown using two of Mukuro's six skills.
Chrome is also trying hard to learn Italian, since her goal is to someday be able to converse with Mukuro in Italian.[6][7]
Usually, Chrome is in control of her body, but if she is in an extremely dangerous situation, her body is surrounded by mist and Mukuro takes control, along with the body changing to Mukuro's appearance.
Chrome is chosen to be the holder of the Ring of Mist, but is overwhelmed during her battle against Mammon, leading Mukuro to take control and defeat Mammon.
After being transferred into the future, she is confronted by Glo Xinia in the Kokuyo Gang's hideout, which her future self apparently lived in. With the help of a Vongola ring and adult Mukuro's spirit, she is able to defeat Glo Xinia by creating illusions of Mukuro, Ken, and Chikusa. The illusions she created are "real", possessing temporary flesh, bone, and independent personalities.
Ryohei later brings a malnourished Chrome to Tsuna's underground base, where her condition takes a turn for the worse as several of her internal organs begin to fail. However, adult Hibari instructs her to use the power of her Vongola Ring to sustain her organs via her own illusions, thus avoiding any immediate danger. Later, in a dream where she is looking for Mukuro, she finds a room full of gears, but a younger version of Shoichi Irie appears. He then transforms into his future self and Chrome screams for Tsuna's help, who was dreaming the same thing.
Her last name, Dokuro, means "skeleton" in Japanese. Also, the Japanese rōmaji of her name, Kurōmu Dokuro, is an anagram of Mukuro Rokudō.

(ランボ, Ranbo) Lambo is a 5-year-old assassin affiliated with the Bovino ("Bovino" means "cow" in Italian) Famiglia. He was born in Italy on May 28 and has a blood type of A. His main choice of weapons are hand grenades, and his future dream is to rule the world. Lambo dresses in a cow suit complete with a tail, and has a huge afro with horns on the sides of his head which gives him the appearance of a bison. He comes to Japan to kill Reborn, so he can prove that he is worthy of becoming his own family's boss. However, he is a complete crybaby, and is no match for Reborn.
He possesses the Ten-Year Bazooka, which switches the target with their own self from ten years later for five minutes. Every time Lambo loses his cool, he uses it on himself, switching with his 15-year-old self. In this form, he ditches his cow suit for a casual suit and cow-print shirt. Although this "Adult Lambo" is shown to be handsome, he remains a crybaby, and is often heard saying things that imply his future involves cleaning toilets. He also begins many sentences with "Yare yare" (loosely translated as "Oh my!"; "Oh gosh!" is Viz's translation), and often has one eye closed. He is also able to summon lightning, which he can channel into his horns. He can then charge his opponent in an attack called Electrico Cornuta, though he often misses his opponent. However, whenever Bianchi sees the "Adult Lambo", she starts trying to kill him because he looks exactly like her ex-boyfriend, Romeo.
Due to the unstable nature of the past affecting the future, the older Lambo will only know of certain events after the adjustment in the past. At one point, he does not know of the Vongola Rings, but during the tournament, the future Lambo is changed and knows of the tournament and the rings. In some occasions, when the bazooka becomes unstable or damaged, the malfunction can cause different effects.
During the Vongola Tournament, Lambo is chosen to be the holder of the Ring of Thunder because of his Electrico Cuoio (Electric Skin), which allows him to channel electricity harmlessly through his body. During his battle with Levi A Than, he is shown to be able to use the Ten-Year Bazooka twice in a row, switching with his 25-year-old self. As his 25-year-old self, he can summon stronger red lightning, and is capable of projecting it as a single 'blade' of energy in an advanced Electrico Cornuta. He also possesses Perfect Electrico Cuoio, which allows him to be completely resistant to all electrical attacks. He is also able to release it into the ground or towards an opponent as a new attack called Electrico Reverse. However, he ends up losing the fight due to the short time-limit of the bazooka's effects.
In the future, 15-year-old Lambo is shown to be protecting adult Haru and Kyoko with I-Pin. However, they are soon replaced in the future time by their past selves. Lambo is shown to be the only guardian not training to master the rings in the future.

- Giotto's Japanese descendants and his own Japanese name is named after Tokugawa Shoguns, like Ieyasu Sawada (Tokugawa Ieyasu), Yoshimune Sawada (Tokugawa Yoshimune), Yoshinobu Sawada (Tokugawa Yoshinobu), Ietsuna Sawada (Tokugawa Ietsuna), Iemitsu Sawada (Tokugawa Iemitsu), Tsunayoshi Sawada (Tokugawa Tsunayoshi).
- Timoteo's Guardians are all named after desserts.
- In Famiglia popularity poll, Vongola Famiglia ranked 1st and 2nd (Vongola Ten Years Later).
- Xanxus states that Giotto moved out to Japan because he was afraid of Vongola Secondo's Flame of Wrath. However, it was actually the first guardian of the Mist Ring, Daemon Spade, that made Primo move to Japan.
- Similarities between the Giotto's Family and Tsuna's Family:
- Giotto and Tsuna look alike and have the same Weapon (though Tsuna's Weapon has a 'X' on it instead of an 'I' and Giotto's hair is blond while Tsuna's hair is brown).
- Knuckle and Ryohei used their fists to fight. Ryohei in the Future noted that he can't kill, which is also a referrence to their similarities, as the First Sun Guardian accidentally killed someone and stopped being active due to being afraid of taking life again.
- Lampo and Lambo looked alike and both are cowardly, both has been put into battle though Tsuna doesn't want Lambo to participate but needs to do so because he's a Vongola Guardian.
- G. and Gokudera looked alike and was also their Boss' right-hand man. They both are skilled in mid-range combat (the first Storm Guardian used a Bow and Arrow while the Gokudera used Bombs, both of which mid-range combat Weapons). Gokudera's Vongola Box is based after the First Storm Guardian's Bow and Arrow.
- Asari Ugetsu and Yamamoto both look alike, both use four Swords, both have deep devotions to their friends (Giotto and Tsuna), and both were faced with the decision to give up something they loved or follow the path of the Blade (they both chose the Blade: the First Rain Guardian gave up music to help Giotto when he was in trouble, and Yamamoto gave up baseball to help Tsuna).
- Daemon Spade and Mukuro Rokudo share many similar traits, however, Chrome, has nothing in common with the 1st Generation Guardian.
- Alaude and Hibari, as Dino states that Hibari reminds him of the First Vongola Cloud Guardian as he never stood alongside the Family, and never got along with anyone, that he loved being alone. The First Cloud Guardian as well as Hibari both worked in law enforcement (the First Cloud Guardian worked with a secret intelligence agency while Hibari was the head of his school prefects). Also, they looked alike, but have different hair and eye colors.
